MILLET Environmental Display

Better inform to consume better !

The MILLET Group has been committed for several years to an environmental respect policy.
In March 2011, the MILLET Group was selected by the Ministry of Ecology to participate in the development of environmental labeling for all its products.
Among the 168 selected companies, the MILLET Group is the only window manufacturer to be included in the list.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND HEALTH PERFORMANCE OF JOINERY

The European Directive 2010/30/EU of the European Parliament and the Council of May 19, 2010, regarding the expansion of energy labeling for energy-related products, states that certain non-energy-related products, such as windows, have a significant potential for energy savings once in service or installed.

To comply with this Directive, the Union of Exterior Joinery Manufacturers (UFME) decided to create a working group to propose a performance labeling system for joinery products.
The MILLET Group took part in this working group.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

The calculation is performed as a percentage improvement in the energy consumption of a reference dwelling, assuming the replacement of a reference window (single glazing Uw = 4.9 W/(m².K), Sw = 0.70), which corresponds to the lowest class on the scale ("G").

INDOOR AIR EMISSIONS

The measurement of VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) potentially emitted is carried out in a laboratory according to applicable standards.
The information on the level of volatile substance emissions in indoor air, which pose a risk of toxicity through inhalation, is then communicated on a rating scale ranging from A+ (very low emissions) to C (high emissions).

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS

The design of our joinery follows a life-cycle approach, meaning it considers every stage: from raw material extraction, transportation, and manufacturing to the product’s 30-year lifespan and end-of-life disposal (landfilling). The results are compared to the environmental impacts of a single-glazed wooden window (Uw = 4.9 W/(m²·K), Sw = 0.70)..

Among all the indicators, we have chosen to communicate on the following ones :

  • Energy consumption (manufacturing, transport, use, and end of life).
  • CO2 emissions.
  • Resource depletion.
  • End of life (impact on water).

DISPLAY OF THE CARBON IMPACT OF OUR TRANSPORTS

On all our quotes and order confirmations,
the CO2 emissions (in kg) generated for transportation are indicated for each product. We encourage our clients to share this information on their own quotes, allowing the end consumer to make an informed choice.
